WHO IS TSIMECA?

TROY SILVA - FOUNDER/DIRECTOR

Troy Silva can’t even remember a time when he hasn’t been dreaming up and creating immersive experiences.

When he wasn’t playing Rollercoaster Tycoon or watching the Travel Channel, Troy was either transforming the playground next door into an amusement park, reimagining his family’s garage as a haunted house, creating miniature aquarium/terrarium ecosystems, or developing strange spa treatments for the neighbor kids to spend all their allowance on.

By the time he was in high school, he became laser focused on pursuing a career path that would allow him to create exhibits and attractions for places like the San Diego Zoo and Disneyland.

His academic journey led him to Cornell University, where he earned a degree in Landscape Architecture, with a focus on Environmental Psychology. Even before graduating, Troy had already launched his first company, laying the foundation for a dynamic, creative career spanning over two decades.

TROY’S NOTABLE CLIENTS

After his collegiate experience, Troy relocated to LA, quickly becoming a highly sought after landscape designer for several Hollywood A-listers.

His success in LA acted as a springboard for his subsequent ventures in Las Vegas, where his unbridled imagination and expertise in how multi-sensory design affects moods and behaviors, helped to bring iconic nightclubs, epic brand activations, and pioneering immersive experiences to life.

While in Las Vegas, Troy also established Mona Life, a business dedicated to promoting regenerative living. He transformed an abandoned mid-century modern ranch into a luxurious oasis, proving that sustainable practices didn’t need to involve sacrifice. This desert utopia served as a beacon of hope for an aspirational luxury lifestyle, rapidly attracting a community of eco-minded artists, designers, healers, and creatives.

Eventually returning to San Diego to be closer to family, Troy's innovative spirit and love of immersive experiences led him to create a new division of Mona Life. He founded TSIMECA and introduced Departing Dystopia, a highly immersive show that combines LARPing with interactive theater.

Departing Dystopia is revolutionizing the way stories are told. Rather than relying on rigid scripts and inflexible narratives, Departing Dystopia uses lyrical music, digital art, and interactive performers in a rather improvisational way to bring what amounts to an ongoing live episodic scifi/dark fantasy dramedy to life in real time.

It’s like a completely alternate universe here in the real world! Unconventional venues are taken over and reimagined as part of this alternate reality.

It sounds abstract, but it’s completely natural to children. Remember the times where your bunk bed became a spaceship? Or, how a simple playground became your future mansion? That took a lot of childlike imagination. Since Departing Dystopia is an 18+ or 21+ experience, we go way further to bring an imaginary reality to life. In doing so, we hope to accomplish impossible things like reigniting that child-like sense of adventure in you all!
